Wedding Details

Time: 4PM on Friday, September 14, 2007

Place: Our Lady of the Presidio Chapel, The Presidio, San Francisco, CA

There will be a reception to follow at the Golden Gate Yacht Club

Transportation: We are requesting folks take taxis to the Chapel from their hotels (less than 1 mile). We have arranged for transportation from the Presidio to the Yacht Club. We have also arranged transportation from the Yacht Club to Lombard Street, where most of our preferred hotels are located. If you live in the city or are staying in another location, we will transport you to a convenient area to catch a taxi or back to the parking lot in the Presidio if you are okay to drive.

Hotels: We have reserved a large number of rooms in a range of prices near the wedding locations. Our wedding in in the Presidio and the closest neighborhood is the Marina. A word of warning, some hotels are on Lombard Street -- a 6-lane street that leads to the Golden Gate Bride. Some of the hotels are a bit nosier than others, and I've made note of that below. All the rates are good for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday or any combination there of. We've included links to all the hotels and encourange you to explore their sites and see what is a good fit for you. Each hotel has their own rules on booking. Here is the low-down on each:

Hotel De Sol

Nice clean hotel; rooms on the smaller side, but comfy beds. Free parking. Heated pool if you feel crazy (swimming is a rare occurrence in SF). Off Lombard Street, so not too noisy at all. Written up as one of the best hotels in SF. When booking, call the hotel directly and tell the agent you are booking a reserved room for the Alexander-Wozniak wedding. They may have CA King beds, but not sure. This is probably the fanciest of the bunch, but very cute and charming hotel. Book here by August 31st.

Rates:
$179/night - for King or 2 Queens
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (or any combination there of)

Buena Vista Motor Inn

A note of warning, I forgot to test the beds when I went. They could be terrible. But the manager was nice. This place has free parking and seems clean although straight out of the 1970s and not in a glam way. It is the best location if you are going to be traveling around SF by bus/foot (it's on Lombard, 2 blocks off of Van Ness). Make sure to get a room not on Lombard Street. To book here, you'll want to call 800-835-4980 and ask for the "Alexwoz" group and you need to book by August 31st.

Rates:
$104/night King
$114/night 2 Queens

Motel Capri
This family-owed joint is very cute and very clean and a full block off Lombard which makes it probably the quietest of all the hotels. This place is styled in the 50s era, but in a cute way. They have some CA Kings which are brand new, but make sure to confirm when reserving. The queen beds had not been replaced yet, so they are hit and miss on the comfort level. The listing should be under Alexander-Wozniak Wedding. Ask for Carl Jeu if you encounter any problems. She is the Manager. You'll need to book by August 31st.

Rates:
$90/night
Single King or Queen (3rd floor, stairs only)
$100/night
2 Queens
$132/night for Suites which sleep 4-6 (I think 2 queens, and maybe 2 single beds)

La Luna Inn

Very cute, clean place, but noisy. You will want earplugs for this place even if you request a room off the street. Free parking. You'll want to call directly to book and ask for the Alexander-Wozniak wedding. They have extended our booking until the end of August (originally 8/13).

Rates:
$99/night King
$109/night two Queens

Day Inn
While directly on Lombard, the majority of the hotel is off the street and definitely not as noisy as Hotel Luna. The room I checked out was standard chain hotel: clean, microwave, and mini fridge. Free parking too. Now, this is the one hotel I'm not entirely sure they will know what you are talking about when you call. I made a deal with "Andy" when I went by. For this hotel, he wanted folks to put by July 13th to guarantee the rates below. If you want to stay here, call directly to 415-922-2010 and make sure they confirm the rates. When you call, mention the wedding, but "Andy" didn't take any notes, so don't be surprised if he doesn't appear to have any idea of what you are talking about. You may want to try asking directly for him. Maybe he has a great memory. Anyway here is what he told me he would do:

$99/night -- King
$119/night -- 2 Queens

Mike and Mircalla -- immediately arriving in SF after their cross-country drive to move here from DC.

Gift Registry

We have registered! We held out on replacing our microwave for months now, so it was an exciting day for me (Mircalla).

We are registered at the following locations:

Crate & Barrel: www.crateandbarrel.com
Macy’s: www.macys.com
Amazon: www.amazon.com/wedding
Bed, Bath & Beyond: www.bedbathandbeyond.com

Mike and I are also saving up to eventually do three things (in no particular order):

Go to South America
Buy a home
Get a couch that is not from the free section of Craigslist

If you would like to contribute to any of these ”campaigns” instead of subjecting yourself to the confusion of an online purchase or going to the mall, we would greatly appreciate that gesture as well.

Rehearsal and Dinner

For those of you involved in this, we will be doing the rehearsal around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with dinner to follow. We will be having dinner at our good friends Telly & Nicole's wine bar and restaurant: Parea (http://pareawinebar.com). We are very excited that they are hosting us. More details to follow.

Our Honeymoon

Yes, we are planning to take a small one. As most of you know, we’ve got incredibly busy lives right now and we just didn’t feel like we could jump into a long honeymoon right now and really enjoy it. We are planning on taking 4 days to visit Mendocino County and explore new territory.
